This place reminded me of a Boy Scout camp called Sinoquipe and their “Polar Bear Swim“.
Back when I wasn’t a Eagle Scout, my dad took me to this Boy Scout camp before we all got bit by the “High Adventure” bug. One of the crazier things you could do there was sign up for the so-called “Polar Bear Swim”. You would wake up at the crack of dawn and jump into a ice cold (ok, chilly) lake first thing.
Since I’m not what you call a “morning person”, this was quite possibly a minor form of torture to me. Nevertheless, I did do it once to say I did it and did not freeze to death in the process.
While I was in Ohio for Jules sister Dayna’s graduation from Ohio University, we stayed with her parents in a local RV park. We brought our air mattress and slept in the living room of the RV. I decided to wake up early the day of graduation to capture some of the steam rising off of a mirror smooth lake.
It was beautiful and quite serene. While it made me really wish I had a circular polarizer or graduated neutral density filter, I still managed to get some decent photos. Plus, it was a nice relaxing start to the morning.
What’s your favorite relaxation spot?
