Marshall Beach Sunset

It was certainly a hike to get down to the beach. Boy was it worth it!

The weather this weekend in the Bay Area, while cold, was exceptionally clear. Jules and I decided to take advantage of this by heading up to Marshall Beach to get some long exposure shots/capture the sunset. We have this place on the list for February’s photowalk as well so it’s an added bonus to scout out some of the trails.

We ended up being pretty loaded up with gear as well. Basically every camera that we owned (outside of the Polaroid) came with us. Jules brought her new T3i and shot photos alongside me which was very cool. I was quite loaded up with cameras- 3 of them to be precise. Between the AE-1 (film), 1D, and T2i, I ended up capturing over 125 photos of the Bay Bridge and the beach.

While that may sound like a bunch, it’s not really (to me- I routinely shoot 300-500 for an engagement session). However, that does mean it takes some time to cull/edit the photos to find the good ones.

After a couple of hours of editing, I was done. (Still waiting for the film but that will be a separate post anyway) It was an amazing sunset to witness- I wish I had a better ND filter with me (next time). I managed to capture some incredible shots here. I can see why it is a local favorite! Can’t wait to come back with the photowalk and I’m sure Jules and I will visit again.
