I’m beginning to think something is not quite right with my lomography film.
For the last week or so, I’ve been shooting a couple rolls of Lomography ISO 400 Color Negative film. While none of my loading/double exposure issues are present (read: user error), I’m grappling with a different kind of issue.
Light leakage.
I can’t explain it – I’m not popping the back of my camera opening during shooting or anything. So far (2 out of 3 rolls), basically everything I shoot for the first 8 frames doesn’t come out. Past that, all is good (and man are those colors crisp!). There is one more roll left in my camera of this three pack so hopefully once I develop that it will show me what’s going on.
I’m not going to totally rule out my camera being the problem. However, I haven’t seen this issue before on any other film that I have shot…so it remains a curious mystery.
The pictures I did get were awesome. Between the crispness of the borrowed Macro lens and the narrow DOF (depth of field) of the 50mm, there are some shots that I am quite happy with. The AE-1 was with me when we headed to Marshall Beach this weekend. I’m not confident enough to work with long exposure photography using film- yet. Soon, I hope!
What do you think of them?
