Well, this was a first. It’s not everyday you try to shoot a sunset…in the rain.
This weekend Jules and I were invited by our friend (and fellow TPA member) Lisa to catch the sunset on the beach. The interesting part was the fact it was cloudy and rainy on the Saturday evening when we wanted to do it.
Not to let a little rain get in our way, we headed out to the coast anyway to meet up with Lisa and her friends (Erik and Sotian). While it was wet and cloudy at time, we still managed to luck out on catching the sunset on a random beach overlook just south of Half Moon Bay. Since we had the foresight to bring tripods, I decided to try some HDR shots as well.
Overall, the shots came out great! While I’ve dabbled in HDR over the years (hopefully I can rescue my shots from Europe), I’ve never felt that I got the hang of it. However, most of my photography is experimenting to try to capture shots I like, and this is no different. I also decided to do some long exposure shots (that I ended up compiling into a couple of GIFs), but that’s another blog post. What do you do think of them? Let me know in the comments!
