I thought I was a big Duct Tape fan. Being an Eagle Scout and avery avid outdoorsman, I love the stuff and use it quite a bit. Duct Tape can fix a lot of problems and I thought I was an expert… Turns out I’m only a beginner.
When Jules and I moved to Cleveland from California, we passed the Duct Tape headquarters on our drive to our new house. Besides going bonkers that the HQ was in the same city we were living in, I also saw that they held a festival every year. It appeared to be the “mecca” of Duct Tape, if you will, which was something I really wanted to see. We missed our chance in 2014 but Ryan and I visited the 2015 version.
It was a hoot.
Think of a carnival with your typical vendors (both food and rides) with a TON of Duct Tape all around. From Duct Tape craft classes (no kidding), to Duct Tape floats/art sculptures, to a giant tent with all types of Duct Tape for sale. Most of the art sculptures were very large and impressively detailed for that medium. We encountered everything from a pet monkey to deep fried oreos. Amazingly enough, people traveled from all over the country to be there.
It was pretty awesome to see so many passionate (about Duct Tape) people all in one place. Meanwhile, I really feel I need to up my game for next year.
