Alas, our journey had to come to an end. But like most endings, there was a few plot twists as well.
Our last day was puncuated by a flat tire and a new route. It also was (by design) our longest day- a sprint to the finish if you will.
Once we got into the Mojave Desert of California, things seemed different. The heat was so hot that we had to swap GoPro batteries every 2-3 hours to cope with the heat. The sun was relentless and the road seemed to stretch on forever.
We encountered some unusual things during the latter part of the longest day. From a agricultural inspecation, to the biggest windfarm we’ve ever seen, and finding a Sonic in the middle of nowhere- we had a good deal of adventure for one day.
We dragged our weary bodies into bed and passed out till morning. We quickly drove over and took possession of our apartment and then drove back to pick up the dogs. We were home!
Then the unpacking started…
